In our latest update 2022.6.21, you’ll notice we’re removing guest accounts entirely from Among Us in an attempt to simplify the account process. Thanks for being patient with us!

Here’s a longer explanation of how to merge your Guest Account with your device, how to tell if you have a Guest Account, and what it means.

If you have a Guest Account on your device, you’ll get a pop up that looks like this:

Hit Proceed in order to merge all items, currencies, and experience from your Guest Account into your current account. We highly recommend doing this!  

Many of you are already playing on accounts and are not storing items, experience, or currency on a Guest Account. But in case you’d like to check, here’s how to see if you’re on a Guest Account or not: 

If your account tab on the left is GREEN, it’s a full account. If it is BLUE, it is a child account waiting for a parent to approve/deny permissions. Either way, this is the account that will have a Guest Account merged into it. 

If the account tab on the left is YELLOW, it’s a Guest Account. This will be the account that gets merged into a full account and disappear after it is merged.

If your account tab is Gray, it means you’re offline.

If you share the device you’re using (computer, phone, etc.) with other people, everyone who uses this device SHARES the Guest Account connected to that device.

No other users on the device you’re using will be able to merge the Guest Account once you hit Proceed. Merging accounts can only happen once, and you will NOT be able to reallocate the items, currencies, and experience tied to this Guest Account again. If you don’t have any items associated with the Guest Account, we recommend you merge it anyway. You will get the pop up forever until someone merges the Guest Account.

To link your accounts, navigate to https://accounts.innersloth.com/ 

On this page, select the account you use the most. You will be asked to sign-in via that platform.  

Once signed in you should see a page like the one below.  

From this page you can see which accounts are already merged with your primary account at the top of the screen. 

The accounts you can link are listed below with the green “Link” button. Select the one you wish to link and you will be routed to the sign-in page for that platform. 

When linking, a confirmation screen will appear and show which accounts are being merged into one another. Once you agree, the merge is complete! 

After successfully linking your accounts, it should look something like the screenshot below. 

Kids Accounts 

If you are a parent/guardian and want to merge a child’s account, here’s what you need to know: 

• Any linking of a child’s account into a full account will cause both accounts to inherit the child’s account permissions. Do not link the two unless you are okay with this. 
• Linking two child’s accounts will make it so that the child account with the most permissions will apply to both accounts.

If you are getting: 

This means you already have two separate sets (i.e. a set being two or more merged accounts) of merged accounts. You have to link accounts individually to your primary account, and cannot have two different sets of accounts linked together. 

Example: 

To merge all of these accounts together, you would need to split keyring B into individual accounts. Unlink everything in your second set to do this, and then link them with your primary account.

New Roles

A whole new level of gameplay is here. These 4 brand new Roles add a ton of complexity and new gameplay to the social deduction mechanics you know and love! More information can be found in the Lobby Settings, but here’s a quick rundown:

Crewmate Roles

• Scientist: Access vitals at any time. Complete tasks to recharge your battery.
• Engineer: Can use the vents.
• Guardian Angel: Cast a protection shield around the remaining Crewmates.

Impostor Role

• Shapeshifter: Disguise yourself by morphing into any other Crewmate.

And like most of our game settings, these Roles are completely customizable! Add or remove whatever you like, change the probability, and even alter individual abilities

Cosmicubes

You: Wants more cosmetics, collabs with other games, and progression.

Us: Wants to give everyone more things, needs to survive and pay for server costs, and do more cool stuff. 

Cosmicubes are a new way for you to get exclusive cosmetics and show off your gear! Space bean drip, as they say.

Here’s what this includes:

• Brand new customization options – both free and paid. Visor cosmetics and special name plates make it even more fun to change up your look, plus additional pets, hats, and skins. 
  
• Cosmicubes and unlockable cosmetics. Even more themed items are now unlockable via our new branching Cosmicube system! Play the game, gather resources, and reap the rewards of your murde– uh, I mean, tasks. Cosmicubes are a special feature for Among Us! There will be both paid and free varieties, and have more premium sets of themed items. 

All cosmetics are purely visual and do not have any effect on gameplay or gameplay options. You might have noticed that the game is free on mobile with no ads (we’re working on getting the ads to be a better, safer experience), and you know the PC and Switch version is $4.99. To keep the game going, servers running, and give everyone more free cosmetic options, we’re excited for the Cosmicube update! And then if anyone feels like supporting us, then the paid cosmetic option is there too.

If you bought DLC cosmetics from the Steam store or on mobile, no worries – those will be transferred over. You should get an in-game pop up showing you how to connect your cosmetics with your account. Keep in mind you can only do this once.

How exactly does it work?

There are several different types of resources you can gather, and each one does something special:

• Cosmicubes: Special cosmetic cubes that have themed items you unlock via a branching path. These items tend to be more special or detailed. Different Cosmicubes are bought using Beans or Stars, but their contents can only be unlocked by earning Pods through gameplay.

• Beans: Resource awarded through normal online gameplay! Use it to redeem cosmetics and some Cosmicubes in the store. Free and very bean shaped.

• Stars: This is our Premium Currency resource, bought with cold hard cash. You can buy these in the game and use it to purchase special items and some Cosmicubes.

• Pods: Gathered through gameplay IF AND ONLY IF you have a Cosmicube activated. Each Cosmicube has a different type of Pod associated with its contents, and Pods cannot be transferred between Cosmicubes.

• XP: Experience given based on playtime – will only be used for character leveling, which provides multiplier bonuses for Beans and Pods earned whenever you gain a new level.

Currency can always be stored for later, and we’ll be constantly releasing new items as we get more updates and partnerships in the future.

Account Linking, Achievements, and More

New items and XP means a need to be able to aggregate and link your Among Us account to different platforms! For most platforms, you’ll be able to log in, link, and save your progress and cosmetics using the same account.

Please read the in-game instructions VERY carefully to make sure you don’t overwrite the wrong account!

Exception: Stars purchased on Nintendo Switch will only be usable on that system. In the future, Pods & Beans earned on Switch can be shared across most systems. It’s not currently available with this update, but we’re working on it!

Additionally, there are some controller changes in this update.

• The Vent action is no longer attached to the main action button. In order to vent, press V on the keyboard, or Right Shoulder Button on controllers.
• Sabotage is no longer attached to the main action button. In order to access the sabotage map, Impostors can simply open up their map, using the Tab key on keyboards or Left Trigger on controllers.
• If you have a special role, the action for that role is accessed via the F key on keyboards, or Right Trigger on controllers. This includes the Engineer’s vent ability.

Achievements will be available on platforms that have them! Here’s what you need to know:

• Stats that affect your achievements will persist across all linked platforms (essentially your stats are linked to your player ID)
• You need to perform the actual action that would unlock that achievement to trigger it on another platform.
  • Fake achievement example to explain: If you got a 50 card swipe achievement on Steam and want that to unlock on iOS, you would need to do the card swipe task one more time in iOS to get the achievement.

What can you look forward to next? Among Us for Xbox and PlayStation will launch on December 14, so you can expect a whole new crew to join us in space! There might be EVEN MORE announcements inbetween that…

We still have plenty of things we want to add into the game like the next map, more roles, and other gameplay features too. But for now, happy venting!

I wanted to jump in and quickly explain the account system that’ll be launching with the map, since I’m going to assume once the update launches very few people are going to read the dev log, lol. 

INFORMATION ON ACCOUNTS

Right now accounts are focused on reporting and moderation capabilities, but in the future we hope to add a friend system and the ability to transfer your cosmetics between devices. Cool? Cool!

• You will be able to report if someone in the game is acting inappropriately, including: inappropriate names, inappropriate chat, cheating/hacking, and harassment/misconduct. Consequences can range from temporary to permanent bans (including alternate accounts).
• Note that reports will be read by people (not bots!) and you will need to provide a reason as to why you are reporting. 
• No linking of multiple accounts yet (Steam account is only on Steam, Epic account is only on Epic, etc.) It’ll be coming soon though.  
• You must create an account to access free chat (without it you will have to use Quick Chat for safety!)
• You must create an account to freely change your display name. If you do not create an account, there will be randomized names you can choose from.
• Usernames are not exclusive. Multiple people can have the same username. (So if you take the username “PuffballsUnited”, other people can still use “PuffballsUnited”.)
• If you are under the minimum age of digital consent in your country (for most countries 13 is the minimum age), you have to get a parent/guardian’s permission to access free chat (which then allows you to create an account), or change your display name.
• Without an account (or if you’re a minor who doesn’t want to ask your parent/guardian for approval), you can still play via Guest Mode. This locks you to Quick Chat and doesn’t allow you to change your name other than with a randomly generated name.
• A corresponding Code of Conduct will be available on our website that outlines the expectations for our community and consequences.

The launch of an age gate, Quick Chat and an accounts system that requires children to obtain a parent/guardian’s permission to use free chat or change their display names are all our initial efforts towards making it more safe for children to play Among Us, and comply with various global requirements in the process. Thanks for sticking with us!

Note on Bugs

We know there are still a few bugs from our last update (e.g. Nintendo Switch having public lobby connection issues, certain Android devices still having shadow glitches, game ending improperly, and more.) The map drop will come with patches to the biggest problems, and hopefully won’t create anymore huge ones. 

Random Fun Bit

We showed off two of the new, free hats that’ll be coming with the Airship update. Angry eyebrows and Unicorn hat!

There are still a few more to show off on Twitter as we lead up to the map drop. 

There will also be an Airship Skin Pack you can buy along with the game. It’ll include 3 new skins (one of which has a custom kill animation) and 13 new hats! You’ve probably spotted quite a few of them in the opening to the Airship’s trailer.
